Food Chain - The Point

We finished! All the food parcels generated by the Ubuntu Army Food Chain, have been distributed, or allocated, and we estimate that about 3000 people will be fed as a result. Super stoked and relieved and exhausted, but mainly stoked. It would be fair to say that we faced peculiar and unexpected challenges, and definitely made mistakes along the way, but considering we are a bunch of ordinary Africans operating under extraordinary circumstances, the entire venture was a great success. Our support for vulnerable Africans will continue through this lockdown as they face hunger, destitution and homelessness. Thank you all for being a part of this army of Ubuntu. We are making progress, and next week we jump back into it.

On another positive note, we completed quite a few collections and deliveries around Durban today, and met some amazing people stepping up to answer the call of the hungry. We have made awesome contacts throughout Durban and in the past 48 hours have been promised great quality food parcels, a stash of baby cereal and hundreds of loaves of bread. “Take if you need. Give if you have”. Ubuntu ❤️

"So I bought a food voucher on computicket to help a starving family.

It took me less than 2 minutes.

I’m sharing this not for recognition but to CHALLENGE anyone and everyone who is able to do the same.

HERE’S HOW IT WORKS:

Kathryn Singery hopped on board an initiative to try and feed the multitude of families falling through the cracks of feeding schemes.

1. At your request, she sends you a cell number of a family in need (collected and screened by her people)

2. You go to Computicket and select the Checkers Voucher option. Choose from R250 up to R1000. (R250 will feed a family for a whole week!)

The voucher goes straight to their cellphone and you have saved a family from starving. Literally!

Please Share this post and help spread the word" 🙂
