Los Angeles is currently being ravaged by fire. Hundreds of thousands of people have been evacuated or displaced. Thousands have lost their homes. This is the biggest fire in the history of the city, and the devastation is unprecedented.
Los Angeles has been my second home for 25 years and many of my friends and colleagues who live there have already lost their homes over night. It is time for us to step up and help those who are in need. During crisis we give. Unconditionally.
To all those Angelenos who are homeless and scared this morning, please use the Ubuntu Respond page as a notice board for your needs. We have your back. There is no shame in asking for help. And. I am calling on all of you, as part of the Ubuntu Army, spread all over the world, to connect directly with, and support, those who post their needs on the Ubuntu Respond page.
Finally. If you are unable to link directly with a victim of the Los Angeles fires via the Ubuntu Respond page, and would like to contribute to an organization that directly addresses on-the-ground needs, then please visit the Ubuntu Army contribution page at and mark your contribution as LA FIRE. We are currently vetting no-nonsense organizations on the ground in LA to support.

Lastly. Victims of the fire are at this point living in shock and disbelief and may not know what their options for tomorrow, or the days to follow, are. Encourage them to post on the Ubuntu Respond page, and between all of us at Ubuntu Army, you and I and those we have yet to meet, spread throughout the world, we will do our best to meet those needs. Directly.
Information is power. Please spread this message as far as possible. The faster we share this message, and this platform, the better chance we have of reaching those in need. We know this. We've done this many times before. Together, as a global community, we can take care of those who are waking up this morning in LA, homeless and scared. Ubuntu.
